What is the Hitkoi Trident Laser Bong?

The Hitoki Trident laser bong is the creation of brothers Joe and Jack Tran. According to Joe, he came up with the idea of using a laser to light weed when he was thinking about the those dollar store laser toys that he and his brother, Jack, used to play with when they were kids, while he was smoking a joint. Naturally, Joe told Jack about the idea he dreamed up, and the two decided that they would set out to create it.

While a cheap dollar store toy may have been the inspiration for the Hitoki Trident, this laser bong is anything but cheap. No, no; the Hitoki Trident is a sleek and modern blown-glass bong that’s like a piece of art. Though it’s true that glass bongs have always been considered functional art, the Hitoki Trident has an heir of sophistication.

The brothers wanted to create a more smoking experience, and they definitely let that idea be known. Not only does the bong look incredible, but so does the packaging! On the interior of the box, the words “Elevate yourself, elevate your surroundings, elevate society” are inscribed on the interior of the box.

The laser beam technology eliminates the need to use butane lighters or matches, and instead, use an advanced heat delivery system that, according to the makers of Hitoki, is “similar to a magnifying glass under the sun”.

Hitoki Trident Features

There are so many things about the Hitoki Trident laser bong to love. The first thing you’ll notice is the sleek and elegant design of the waterpipe, which is constructed of aircraft-grade aluminum, which not only lends a sleek, modern look, but also makes the apparatus super-durable and lightweight – not to mention, makes it smooth to hit.

Yes, this is technically a portable vaporizer water pipe, the water is sealed in and self-contained and the device operates off battery power, no torch required.

The integrated water filtration system is the most notable feature of the Hitoki Trident laser bong. It ensures that each and every hit you take is oh-so-smooth. With several power settings, smoking sessions can be personalized to each person in your cypher’s needs.

If lasers scare you don’t worry, there’s a safety interlock, too, which makes sure no injuries occur when you’re using the amazing laser beam, the simple-to-use carb button, and the impressively long battery life (which lets enjoy more than 280 users on a single charge!).

The ceramic loading chamber can be removed, which makes it super-easy to pack a hit, and the instant combustion allows you to enjoy a smooth, great-tasting terpene-rich hit within just a few seconds. There’s no need to fumble for and struggle with a lighter, which totally adds to the appeal of the Hiktoki Trident laser bong.

How does the Hitoki Trident Laser Bong Work?

At first glance, it might look a little confusing to use, but it’s actually a lot easier than it appears. The lean cylindrical frame breaks down into three separate chambers. The uppermost chamber houses the mechanics of the laser bean and the power button, and is highlighted by an LED light. The center chamber features a ceramic bowl that is contained in glass, the smoke intake, and a bubbler stem. The third chamber serves as the bong’s water chamber.

Each of the three chambers can be unscrewed from one another, which allows for easy cleaning and storage. When you’re ready to use it again, reassembly is a cinch, too.

Assembling the Hitoki Trident

To start, you need to unscrew the three chambers. Then you’ll need to fill the water chamber and the ceramic bowl with buds, and you’re ready to reassemble the unit. Once it’s all together, simply give the power button five taps in a rapid succession to activate it.

Once the Hitoki Trident is activated, holding the power button down will trigger a bright blue thread of light, or you can double-click the power button to activate a nine-second laser stream. When the laser penetrates the bud, you’ll see the smoke travel through the viewing window, and you can place your mouth on the mouthpiece and take a pull to inhale the smoke.

Adjusting Temperature

The Hitoki Trident features heat modes, which can be accessed by quickly pressing the power button three times while it’s activated. Each of the heat modes are indicated by color, and include:

  • Red. Lowest setting, and is ideal for freshly ground herbs, flavor maximizer
  • Green. Medium setting, and is great for freshly ground herbs, flavor and punch
  • Blue. Highest setting, and is perfect for herb blends that have been infused with essential oils, cashing out your bowl and ready to blast off to the moon

Charging the Hitoki Trident

The laser bong comes with a USB-C power cable and a well charger. Simply attach the cord, plug it in, and you’ll know it’s charging when the power button glows solid red. When it’s fully charged, the light will switch to blue. It takes about an hour and 45 minutes to fully charge it up when it’s completely depleted. You should get about 280 hits on a full charge.

Herb CEO Summary

Well, let’s not beat around the bush, one of the primary motivators for buying a Hitoki Trident is because of the FRIGGIN LASER BEAM! There is no denying that having a water pipe with an actual laser as the heating source is probably one of the dopest party pieces right up there with things like the legendary Storz & Bickel Volcano vaporizer or the more recent Stundenglass double-ended gravity water pipe.

Looking past the wow factor using a laser as a heating source is actually pretty genius. We’ve exclaimed the glories of lower-temperature heating of top-shelf herb before, most recently in our “why you should use hemp wicks” piece. We are also fans of the handheld vaporizer that started it all in the Pax because, like with hemp wicks, being able to activate our herb without overheating it is of utmost importance when pursuing flavor.

So yes, the Trident is on our shortlist of “dream pieces” to add to the collection because of it’s A) beautiful design aesthetic B) it’s friggin laser beam and C) the ability to fine tune temps for maximum flavor. This is all we really want in a water pipe and Hitoki hit it out of the park with their Trident.

Is the Hitoki Trident worth it?

That depends, how much do you want to impress your friends? From a technology perspective it’s an amazing device but there are also much cheaper ways to enjoy cannabis so in the end it really depends on how rich/poor you are and how much you value cool technology.

Is the Hitoki Trident a vaporizer?

Yes, the Trident is technically a vaporizer because of how finely tuned the laser is wherein it can heat up the cannabis to activation without actually combusting it, similar to any other dry herb vaporizer.
